THE APPRENTICES ACT:
Recently, MSDE made significant reforms to the Apprentices Act 1961, making it easier for the industry to hire apprentices. To further catalyse apprenticeship training across the country, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, launched National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The scheme not only incentivises corporates to train and hire apprentices but also helps them meet their long-term workforce requirements by creating a pool of skilled resources across sectors.
NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROMOTION SCHEME (NAPS):
Apprenticeship training has been adopted as a major skill development initiative to provide better employment prospects in an organised manner to the youth across India. The apprentice employment model has proven to be a successful one since its inception, with an increase in the number of working professionals. The need of the hour calls for upscaling of various skill development initiatives.
